Asian Cockroach
The Asian cockroach is nearly identical to the German cockroach in appearance, but its behavior is completely different: it breeds outdoors in lawns, mulch and leaf litter, flies readily, and drifts indoors at dusk toward lit windows, porch fixtures and television screens. Telling the two apart matters, because indoor baiting programs aimed at German cockroaches do not resolve an outdoor population.

Prevention
- Reduce landscape leaf litter and thick ground cover next to the house
- Adjust irrigation so beds are not constantly saturated
- Keep doors and windows closed at dusk and repair screens
- Use less attractive exterior lighting near main entries
